How to Advertise Your Business in Mallorca — The Complete Guide
Mallorca has 900,000 permanent residents and nearly 10 million visitors a year. German tourists alone spend €1,200 per trip on average. This is the complete paid advertising guide for Mallorca businesses — every major channel, with specific budgets and market context that generic guides skip.
Mallorca is not a normal local market. The permanent population is approximately 900,000 — small by European standards. But overlaid on that is a tourism economy that represents roughly 70% of the Balearic Islands’ GDP. Nearly 10 million visitors arrive each year.
German tourists: 3.7 million annually, 37% of total visitors, spending an average of €1,200 per trip according to Balearic Islands tourism statistics. UK tourists: 1.6 million annually, 16% of total. These two groups — plus the island’s permanent resident population — have almost nothing in common in terms of buying behaviour, language, or platform usage. Your advertising strategy must address them separately.
This guide covers every major paid channel available to Mallorca businesses, with specific budgets and Mallorca-specific context that generic agency guides skip. We are a marketing agency based in Calvià. This is the market we work in every day.
The Mallorca market: what makes it different
Three facts define the Mallorca advertising landscape.
Two markets, one island. The permanent population is around 900,000. The tourism economy — roughly 70% of the Balearic Islands’ GDP — brings nearly 10 million visitors per year. German tourists are the single largest group: 3.7 million per year, €1,200 average spend per trip. UK tourists: 1.6 million per year. These groups have fundamentally different discovery behaviours, language preferences, and booking timelines. A single strategy rarely serves both.
Season compresses the window. Tourism runs April to October. July and August are peak. A business targeting tourists that starts advertising in June has already missed the pre-trip consideration window — German and British tourists research and book 4–12 weeks in advance. The best-performing campaigns we manage ramp in February.
German language is an underserved competitive advantage. 37% of Mallorca’s annual visitors are German. Most search, browse, and book in German. Yet the majority of Mallorca’s digital advertising is in Spanish or English. Well-structured German-language campaigns — targeting German tourists at source, before they book, in their own language — is the most underexploited opportunity in this market. Most English-speaking agencies do not operate in German. Most Spanish agencies do not either.
Google Ads in Mallorca
Google Ads is the right channel for high-intent Mallorca searches: real estate, legal services, accountants, private medical, professional services of any kind. Anyone with specific intent and ready to act shows up in Google Search first.
Geo-targeting requires precision. Targeting “Spain” broadly pulls in traffic from Madrid and Barcelona with no intention of visiting your Mallorca business. We build campaigns with island-specific geo-targeting plus extended coverage for tourists searching from Germany and the UK before departure — two very different configurations that most single-market setups miss entirely.
German-language search volume is underserved. “Finca mieten Mallorca”, “Immobilien Mallorca kaufen”, “Zahnarzt Mallorca” — German-language queries for Mallorca-specific services generate meaningful volume and face materially less competition than their English equivalents. German-language ads pointing to German-language landing pages, served to users in Germany before their trip, convert at rates most Mallorca advertisers are not currently capturing.
Budget strategy: annual vs seasonal. Professional services and real estate businesses advertise year-round with relatively flat seasonality. Tourism-dependent businesses front-load spend in Q1 to capture pre-trip research, then maintain through peak.
Minimum viable budget: €800/month. Below that, the data volume is too thin for meaningful optimisation. Read our full guide: Google Ads in Mallorca. Our Google Ads service page covers how we structure campaigns. For cost benchmarks in German, see our guide to was kostet Google Ads.
Meta Ads for Mallorca businesses
Meta is the dominant discovery-phase channel for hospitality, tourism, and B2C businesses in Mallorca. It is where people find restaurants, experiences, and holiday accommodation before purchase intent crystallises.
The tourist pre-trip window. German Instagram users travelling to Mallorca are active on the platform 4–8 weeks before departure. Instagram Stories and Reels targeting German-speaking audiences by travel interest and geographic signal consistently outperform en-route targeting for our hospitality clients. A user in Munich researching Mallorca beach clubs is worth far more than a user who has already booked and landed.
Season timing is everything. Tourist-facing Meta campaigns should ramp February–March, peak in May–June for pre-trip bookings, and continue through October. Flat year-round budgets on seasonal businesses waste money in winter and miss the pre-trip consideration window.
Year-round local campaigns. Businesses serving permanent residents — dentists, gyms, legal practices — run fundamentally different strategies: local radius targeting, consistent year-round budget, no seasonal ramp required.
Minimum viable budget: €500/month in season. For hospitality-specific approaches, see our hospitality industry page. For the agency vs in-house question, read our guide: Meta Ads: agency vs in-house. The paid social service page covers how we manage Meta campaigns end-to-end.
TikTok Ads for tourism and hospitality
TikTok has become a credible paid channel for tourism and experience businesses in Mallorca. The organic content that drives the most views on the island — catamaran day trips, beach clubs, hillside restaurants, sunrise hikes — maps directly onto the TikTok ad formats that perform.
TikTok works for Mallorca businesses when you have a strong visual product, a customer base aged 18–34, and the capacity to produce short-form video at consistent volume. It does not work well for B2B services, professional services with long sales cycles, or high-ticket real estate — different content format, different audience, different platform.
Seasonality-aware creative is the highest-performing mechanic. “Book now — 3 spots left in July.” Availability-based creative with a live sense of urgency is something static image ads cannot replicate. It is also uniquely suited to the Mallorca seasonal market, where scarcity is real and time-sensitivity is high.
Minimum viable budget: €400/month, March–October. Read our dedicated guide: TikTok Ads for Mallorca tourism.
LinkedIn Ads for B2B and professional services
LinkedIn Ads are expensive everywhere, including Mallorca. Typical CPCs run €4–€8. But for specific use cases, they are the only channel that reaches the right audience with the right targeting precision.
Mallorca-specific LinkedIn use cases where the economics work:
- B2B services for the expat professional community — accountants, lawyers, corporate advisors serving German and UK-origin business owners resident on the island
- Real estate targeting high-net-worth DACH buyers — job function and seniority targeting of senior professionals in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland who are active buyers in the Mallorca luxury property market
- Professional services for businesses with Mallorca operations — maritime services, logistics, corporate travel, language services
The Mallorca B2B market is small on LinkedIn. Plan for frequency over reach — repeated exposure to a defined audience of 5,000–15,000 performs better than spreading thin across a broader list at lower frequency.
Minimum viable budget: €1,000/month. Read our B2B LinkedIn Ads guide for Spain and our real estate industry page.
How to build a multi-channel strategy
No single channel covers the full Mallorca customer journey. The businesses that grow fastest combine channels deliberately — each matched to the right stage and audience.
A simplified framework for most Mallorca tourism or hospitality businesses:
- Awareness (February–April): Meta and TikTok to German and UK audiences by interest and geographic signal — reach tourists in the pre-trip consideration phase
- Consideration (March–June): Google Search for intent-led queries; Meta retargeting of website visitors and video viewers
- Conversion (May–August): Google Performance Max with real booking data fed back as offline conversions; reduced awareness spend, maximum conversion focus
- Retention (October–November): Email to past guests; Meta Custom Audiences for direct repeat bookings, bypassing OTA commission
Platform comparison by business type:
| Platform | Best for | Season | Min budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Real estate, professional services | Year-round | €800/mo |
| Meta Ads | Hospitality, restaurants, B2C | Apr–Oct peak | €500/mo |
| TikTok Ads | Tourism, boat charters, experiences | Mar–Oct | €400/mo |
| LinkedIn Ads | B2B, professional services, expats | Year-round | €1,000/mo |
| Pinterest Ads | Home interiors, weddings, lifestyle | Year-round | €300/mo |
This is a starting point, not a prescription. A 12-room boutique hotel runs a very different strategy from a restaurant group with three locations. The channel mix that makes sense for a real estate agency bears no resemblance to the one that works for a boat charter company.
